House maitenance manager

The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Center's mission is to provide palliative care to terminally ill people of all ages in order to promote an end of life with dignity and serenity. Located in a peaceful environment, the House has twelve perfectly equipped individual rooms. We offer professional care focused on comprehensive support for sick people, their family members and loved ones.

Schedule type ​

35 hours / week and every other weekend

​

The Housekeeping Team Leader carries out housekeeping and general maintenance work (light and heavy) for the House, both in the building and its exterior, and ensures the proper functioning of equipment for patients and users. He also oversees  preventive maintenance and makes repairs as needed.  He may have to respond to emergency situations (security problem) during and after normal working hours.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:  

​

Housekeeping of the building (75%)

  • Perform housekeeping and disinfection tasks, according to the needs of the house;

  • Perform certain minor repairs and carpentry or painting work to ensure the cleanliness of the premises and the good condition of the equipment.  These tasks are done alone or with other people;

  • Participate in the handling and transportation of goods, furniture and other materials;

  • Ensure that building cleanliness standards are maintained at the highest level;

  • Regularly inspect the premises, facilities and equipment to determine if preventive maintenance or repair is necessary. Ensure that the inspection register is kept and ensure the necessary follow-ups.

  • Keep an up-to-date log of maintenance work;

  • Perform evaluation certificate renewals twice a year by contacting suppliers (sprinklers, alarm system, etc.);

  • Request quotes from various suppliers according to the projects in force in collaboration with the administrative assistant and report the quotes received to the Direction.

Team and project management (25%)

  • Ensure to provide a high level of collaboration between team members;

  • Plan needs and distribute tasks among team members;

  • Conduct research to find the best products/services to make suggestions to management;

  • Contribute to the application and updating of emergency measures;

  • Coordinate the work of the team & subcontractors and act as a resource person when there are suppliers on site;

  • Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety standards, make safe use of equipment;

  • Identify unsafe practices and conditions, report them to management and take the necessary corrective action;

  • Inform management of any problematic or risky situations.

REQUIRED PROFILE AND REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Hold a secondary V diploma or equivalence;

  • Have 5 years of experience in housekeeping and building or maintenance training;

  • Knowledge of the medical disinfection protocol, an asset;

  • Working knowledge of spoken French and English; written French;

  • Autonomy, sense of responsibility and organization

  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work with the public

  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position

  • Salary $21.33 to $23.09 per hour; 

  • Vacation: equivalent to 8% of accumulated working weeks after one year of service;
