A red wave of poinsettias of more than $74,000 !

If you saw a poinsettia at a loved one’s home during the Holidays, it is very likely due to their act of generosity, as more than 2,800 of these festive plants flew out of the greenhouses during the annual VSPCRF Poinsettia Campaign.  $74,157 was raised this year, making it the best year, since the beginning of the Campaign in 2010.

The more than satisfactory results were revealed on December 21st at the Centre du Jardin Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac, in the presence of the owners, Florence Daneau and Patrick Van den Abeele, loyal partners of the Campaign, since the beginning. The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion, the Foundation`s other partner, was represented by its mayor, Mr. Guy Pilon.

The two key volunteers, Mr. Gilles Hébert and Ms. Marie Caron, who initiated and continue to lead the Campaign, were happy to reveal the result of this 8th edition.

This year’s Campaign was dedicated to the memory of Mr. Jean-Louis Crevier, who was involved with the Campaign early on. He passed away last August at the Residence and was the brother of Sylvie Crevier, one of the founders and first President of the Board of Directors of the Foundation.

Mr. Hébert underscored the amazing work of the thirty volunteers who supported the Campaign again this year. “I don’t know how to describe the magnitude of their effort!” he said smiling, adding that the week of preparation for the deliveries required about 600 hours of volunteer work.

To date, $505,000 has been raised since the beginning of the Campaign in 2010.

The Residence, as well as Mr. Hébert and Ms. Caron, would like to thank the indispensable sponsors and other collaborators of this Campaign: Desjardins Vaudreuil- Soulanges, Penske Truck Rental, FCA Canada, Christine and mom Louise Castonguay, Costco, several local restaurants who offered delicious meals to our volunteers and Enseignes Latreille.
