  • Events organized by the Residence | MSPVS | Quebec

On the path to humanity The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence Annual walk has always been a unifying event, full of wonderful stories, sharing and encounters that do us good. So it's with great emotion that we announce the next edition, which will take place on Sunday May 26 (starting at 8:30 a.m.) at Parc Nature les Forestiers-de-Saint-Lazare. Young and old alike will be able to celebrate, with on-site entertainment including a musical performance by singer Virginie Cummins, backing vocalist for the past 14 years on En direct de l'univers. The day will also be energized by Djamboola Fitness warm-ups. Refreshments and snacks will also be available on site. Getting active, sharing good times, honoring a loved one and building relationships are all part of this essential fundraising activity at the Residence. The funds raised enable people at the end of life and their loved ones to benefit from excellent, humane palliative care. Those who are unable to join us on site can still show their support, simply by making a donation directly to the Walk or by supporting a team. Whatever the amount raised, every donation is appreciated and, above all, essential. The Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence offers free care to residents of the region and surrounding area. To maintain this free service, however, we need to raise over $1.4 million in philanthropic funding each year. This year, our goal for the walk is $75,000. We would like to extend our warmest thanks to Canadian Tire of Vaudreuil-Dorion as the official presenter of our annual walk. Thanks to their strong reputation in the region, Canadian Tire's presence at the event demonstrates a socially responsible company with human values that is involved in its community. • Poinsettia Campaign | MSPVS | Quebec

A record-breaking total for the last poinsettias campaign If you saw a beautiful poinsettia at one of your relative’s house or in a region’s shop, it is most likely one of the 2870 plants of the last Vaudreuil-Soulanges Palliative Care Residence’s annual poinsettias campaign. This big red generosity wave translated into a record-breaking total. It is 107 170$ that was collected this year! The two precious volunteers and instigators of the last 12 campaigns, Gilles Hébert and Marie Caron can be proud of this result. What a great finale for them that are retiring this year! About that, the Residence will honnor them at the next Happening gala that will take place on January 28th at Château Vaudreuil. M. Hébert wants to mention that this success would be impossible without the colossal work of 26 volunteers that supported them once again this year. “I don’t know what praising comment to say to qualify their performances!”, he said while smiling, adding that the preparation week for the deliveries required about 650 hours of volunteering. Since its beginning in 2010, this campaign will have produced more than 942 934$ in total and will be back with a 13th edition. The Residence, as well as M. Hébert and Ms. Caron, want to warmly thank the three principal partners of the campaign: La Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion, Desjardins Vaudreuil-Soulanges and Centre Jardin Vaudreuil-Sur-le-Lac. A thank you particularly to the necessary collaborators: Location de camion Penske, FCA Canada, the numerous region’s restaurants that offered delicious meals for our volunteers: restaurant L’Étoile de Rigaud, Christine Castonguay, IGA Viau, Rôtisserie St-Hubert (Françoise Dubuc) and the Palliative Care Residence (Micheal Lang, the executive chef).

  • Gala Happening | MSPVS | Quebec

• Meet our volunteers | MSPVS | Quebec

Meet our volunteers Check out our video in honor of the National Volunteer Week 2022 I started to volunteer after my experience, when my mother needed palliative care services. I was so impressed with the amount of compassion given to my mother as well as what was given to my family. I vowed, that one day, I would volunteer at a palliative care center. Three years ago, I started to volunteer in patient care helping the nursing staff care for our patients. I then added kitchen duties and this winter help was needed at reception. No matter what area I assist, there are some common elements - kindness and respect are the top two that come to mind. I leave after each shift feeling blessed to have had the privilege to hopefully contribute and be part of this team. As we are all very different, I would strongly encourage anyone to reach out to palliative care and talk with the Director of Volunteer Resources to see where/how you can fit in... Whether it is in patient care, kitchen detail, laundry, house cleaning, deliveries, gardening or reception there is a place that is right for you!!! Beverly Duffy Zimmerman I have been volunteering at the Palliative Care Residence for eight years. It is a wonderful place run by many good workers and volunteers who whole heartedly give their best. I decided to volunteer here as I retired and was looking to do something good to give back to the community and this wonderful country to which I migrated many moons ago. Wonderful people to work with and very competent at what they do. Love the Palliative Care Residence. Farouk Javeri Marjolaine, Gale and Francine Bosica, whom we affectionately name Bo
